Fleas are still around in the mild fall weather and will infest your home if they are not treated properly.  For a do-it-yourself remedy, To get rid of fleas in your home, sprinkle baking soda and salt into your carpets and leave overnight. Vacuum the mix out of your carpet after letting it sit overnight.
As a prevention, you can spray pets with diluted lemon juice water.
