This is a tricky one. The answer is yes, but only to a certain degree. A citronella candle can reach a max repellency rate of 22 percent outdoors, according to a 2009 study. If you can get a diffuser with geraniol. This plant-derived oil had a 75 percent repellency rate within 20 feet.
Can you apply sunscreen then spray on insect repellant immediately?
This really should not be done. When applying your sunscreen, you should apply at least 20 minutes prior to being outside. Bug spray should only be applied when needed. Be sure to reapply your sunscreen every two hours or when ever you get out of the water.
