Lifespan = six months to 1½ years
Females lay eggs in batches of 10-50 and can produce 200-500 eggs during lifespan
Five progressively larger nymphal stages. Nymphs require blood meal before each molt
Egg to adult development ranges from 5-8 weeks to eight months depending on temperature
When the ideal temperature (70°-82°) is present, development occurs more rapidly
Several generations (3 – 4) usually present within the infestation
