Keeping Bugs Out of the House During Winter

We all love to stay inside and keep warm in the winter months, but there are many pests looking to do the same thing.  They are searching for ways into your home to keep warm.
There are some steps you can take to keep the pests away and enjoy a pest-free winter in your home.

• Be sure all trees and bushes near your home are trimmed. Keep limbs and leaves trimmed back several feet away from the walls of your home. Basically, remove any paths to your home.
• If you have any trees with fruit in your yard, be sure to pick all fruit from the trees. Whether it’s on the ground or in the trees, pick any fruit you do not plan to use. Fruit attracts all types of bugs and spiders; keep it picked up and you’ll reduce the bugs’ food source.
• Check the outside of your home. If you can slide a piece of paper through the cracks in the doors or windows, or see light through any openings, chances are, bugs can sneak in. Visit your local home improvement store to find new rubber seals and calking.
• Continue your pest control services during the winter. The best way to keep bugs out of your house in the winter is to have a professional consistently spray an appropriate barrier around your home.
