The most important thing you can do to get rid of flies is to eliminate the source of attraction. So if there’s a lot of dog poop in the yard or other smelly stuff, that’s going to attract a lot of flies which then fly in the house and land on your food. If that’s not the problem and you naturally have a ton of flies outside, there are disposable fly traps you can hang outside that work very well. However they stink because you have to put a smelly attractant in the trap, therefore you wouldn’t want to put one too close to the patio where you’re hanging out. There are also inexpensive electric zappers you can set up indoors and they work well for all flying insects including mosquitoes.
